Communication skills are the basis for
effective leadership in organizations!
Notice a distinction between leaders
and leadership:
A leader is an individual
who is usually designated to carry out some specific role within an
organization that requires directing and influencing the behaviors of
others.
Leadership refers
to behaviors that move people toward desired goals or ends. Many people,
whether they ar leaders by title or not, can enact leadership behaviors
within an organization.
Leadership encompasses activities that
induce desired behaviors in other people. Such activities occur only through
communication. Therefore, leadership is embodied in the communication
behaviors of people. The skills that make up
leadership are essentially the skills of communication.
